Global Handwashing Day

Unilever embarked on a big behaviour change programme to change the handwashing habits of one billion people. This organisation has been running handwashing programmes for more than 8 years in 55 countries across the globe.

Every year on the 15th of October, the world celebrates Global Handwashing Day.
This global event initiated by Unilever is one of the world's largest hygiene initiatives and was developed to help prevent child deaths (from the two biggest causes: diarrhoea and pneumonia) through the adoption of effective handwashing behaviours.

Their slogan: The simple act of washing your hands with soap is the most cost-effective life-saving intervention.
